Temporary closure of Queens Road and Orford Road for construction works

On Monday 29 November 2021 Queens Road, at its junction with Hoe Street, was closed to motor vehicles for approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

Following this, works will be moving to the Orford Road junction with Hoe Street, starting 10 January for approximately two weeks.

While the Orford Road closure is in place, we will also be undertaking works to replace existing speed cushions with sinusoidal speed humps on Orford Road, between Hoe Street and First Avenue. The new sinusoidal speed humps will help slow traffic speeds and provide comfort for cycling. This is being done in response to requests received during the Hoe Street public consultation in the summer. A letter will be sent to local residents closer to the time giving more information regarding the parking suspensions for the construction of speed humps in Orford Road.

Work will take place between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday. Please bear with us so we can make these improvements to the area as soon as possible. Our contractors will be working to keep disruption to an absolute minimum. Parking will be suspended around the junctions with Hoe Street, and this will be clearly marked with no parking signs and barriers. We kindly ask that local people avoid parking in these coned off areas.
